John Robert Spangle

ARGOS – John Robert Spangle, 65, of 406 W. Marshall St., Argos, died at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2, 2011, in his residence, following a brief illness.

He was born March 24, 1946, in Wabash County, to Joseph Earl and Lena Pearl Gunter Spangle. On Oct. 14, 1978, in Silver Lake, he married Anita Bontrager, who survives.

Moving to Argos from Silver Lake  in 2008, he had been a farmer, drove coal and dump trucks, was a mechanic and transported Amish. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1964.

Also surviving are five sons: John (and spouse Michele) Spangle, North Manchester; Dennis Spangle, Silver Lake; Robert (and spouse Diana) Spangle, Claypool; Brent Spangle, Rochester; and Joseph Spangle, Warsaw; three daughters: Spring Spangle, Warsaw; Amanda (and spouse Michael) Purvis, LaPaz; and Heather (and spouse Joshua) Holbrook, Claypool; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five brothers:  Eldon (and spouse Arvada) Spangle and Duane (and spouse Becky) Spangle, all of Claypool; and Ralph (and spouse Diane) Spangle, Michael (and spouse Teresa) Spangle and Dwight (and spouse Nancy) Spangle, all of Warsaw; three sisters: Shirley (and spouse Delbert) Hudson, Salisbury; Judy (and spouse Roger) Weaver,  Indianapolis; and Cathy (and spouse Perk) Persinger, Kingston, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Spangle.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the cemetery.
