John Redmond Nye, 85, Wilmette, Ill., died Jan. 12, 2015. He was born to the late Milo and Virginia Losey Nye. He was the loving husband of Donna Shatto. He was a graduate of Purdue University in 1951; a member of Acacia Fraternity and a member Purdue Alumni Association, a veteran of the U.S. Army, Army Chemical Center, Edgewood, Md.; and member of the Wilmette Post No. 46, The American Legion. He had associations with Union Carbide, Glyco Chemicals, Morton Salt and W. T. Grimm & Co. He was the founder and president, Dane Company, a business brokerage; and a 50-year mason. He was a past master of North Evanston Lodge No. 1060; member, Wilmette Park Lodge No. 931 and Wilmette Chapter No. 253, Royal Arch Masons. He was a member of Lake Shore Unitarian Society; former board member of the Rotary Club of Wilmette Harbor; Paul Harris Fellow. Member, Wilmette Harbor Assoc. and Sheridan Shore Yacht Club. He was the proud captain, with Douglas Hoover, of the good ship Interlude. He was a dear father of George Walker Nicholas Nye and Lance Cpl. Jacob Bach Christopher Nye. He was a fortunate brother of the late Marilyn N. Brandt; a fond uncle of Barbara (and spouse James) Findlay, Alfred (and spouse Sandra) Brandt, Garry (and spouse Debbie) Brandt and the late David (and spouse Louann) Brandt; and a great-uncle of many wonderful nieces and nephews.
