BOURBON - Plymouth senior forward John Pettibone erupted for 31 points to lead the Pilgrims to a 62-45 Friday victory over Triton.
Pettibone nailed six three-pointers for the game and had 12 points in the first quarter alone to get Plymouth (4-0) off to a first-quarter lead of 21-10.
Triton (2-3) took advantage of eight second-quarter turnovers to cut the deficit to seven, 30-23, by halftime.
The Pilgrims then outscored Triton 19-9 in the third stanza to go up 49-32, led by Pettibone and the hustle of junior center Brent Houin.
Triton played hard, but coach Joe Bennett and the Trojans were outscored on three-pointers 21 to 9, plus didn't have an answer for Pettibone.
Plymouth coach Jack Edison was pleased with his team's effort.
"This is the best we've played," Edison said. "They (Triton) are a stronger team."
However, Edison seemed concerned with his teams turnovers.
The Trojans, who were playing their fourth game in eight days, seemed a little fatigued and had just one player in double figures.
Rob Salyer scored 10 points to lead the way for Triton, but it was a tough night for the Trojans against the Pilgrims, No.6 in class 3A.
Plymouth travels to Whitko tonight, while Triton heads to Valparaiso to take on Washington Township High School.
