John J. 'Buster' Werstler

NORTH WEBSTER - John J. "Buster" Werstler, 82, of Pierceton, Ridinger Lake, died at 12:10 p.m. Aug. 7, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Pierceton, to Lester O. and Eva Leone Magee Werstler. On Sept. 13, 1953, in North Webster, he married Letha B. Wagoner, who survives.

He was a lifetime Larwill/Pierceton area resident and graduated in 1945 from Larwill High School. He served in the U.S. Army and the Navy Reserves from 1946-50. He was a lifetime area farmer and formerly worked at Dalton Foundry and White Metal, both in Warsaw. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.

Also surviving are three sisters, Lola Drudge, Warsaw, and Joan Myers and Isabel Ruckman, both of Larwill; a brother, Ivan (and spouse Glenna) Werstler, Pierceton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with the Rev. Paul D. Tinkel officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military graveside rites by members of North Webster American Legion.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
