NORTH MANCHESTER - John I. Montel, 84, of North Manchester, died at 5:25 a.m. April 15, 2008, in his residence.
He was born March 18, 1924, in Kosciusko County, to Emery and Mary Metzger Montel. On July 25, 1948, he married Wanda J. Bryan, who died May 16, 1996.
He worked at Peabody Seating Co. for 30 years and retired from Woodcrafts, both in North Manchester. He was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (and spouse Dewayne) Thomas and Barbara (and spouse Duane) Watson, both of North Manchester; and a granddaughter, Nichole (and spouse Luke) Andre, Medford, Ore. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, rural Silver Lake.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
