John Emrick, 85, died May 28, 2007, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Waynedale. On March 2, 1946, he married Patricia Sundheimer, who died June 26, 1994.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving in World War II through 1945. He was an entrepreneur, owning and managing three different businesses in his lifetime. He retired to Englewood, Fla., 30 years ago. His second home was in Tippecanoe Lake.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Pijon, Missoula, Mont.; a son, David Emrick, Davenport, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Angel, Escondido, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw. According to his wishes, cremation took place.
Runge Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
