Joe Richard "Dick" Swanson, 74, of Atwood, died Aug. 7, 2007, in Veterans Administration Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 21, 1933, in Atwood, to Thornton and Lucille Firestone Swanson. On June 17, 1960, in Warsaw, he married Addie Conger, who survives.
He owned Swanson Service Center, Atwood, for 40 years, retiring in 1994. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Moose Lodge, and a member of Eagles Lodge and Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood.
Also surviving are three sons, Tony, Troy and Todd Swanson, all of Atwood; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack Wayne and John Swanson, both of San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
