About seven years ago, Logan Todd and Josh Grannell met while working at a movie theater near their hometown of Niles, Mich.
After a few years they both came to the realization that they wanted to own their own business.
That plan will come to fruition quite soon as the duo plans to open a Jimmy John’s in Warsaw.
The tentative opening day is June 5.
Grannell and Todd hoped to open a movie theater at first. But at a meeting they found out that the amount of capital needed would be too much.
On their way back from a meeting, they stopped at a Jimmy John’s.
“We stopped to eat and we saw the owner-franchise pamphlets,” said Grannell.
The duo then did research. They found that Jimmy John’s is the third fastest growing quick service restaurant in the U.S. They decided to both get jobs at a Jimmy John’s so they could learn the operation.
“They really set you up for success,” said Todd. “It’s an upbeat, fun and fast-paced atmosphere. It fits what we wanted so well.”
The duo signed a franchise agreement in August 2010 and found their new location about six months ago.
The new Jimmy John’s location is at 1979 N. Detroit St. in the same plaza as O’s Computers.
Open interviews are being held today through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon for jobs.
Applications are available on-site or through jimmyjohns.com
Todd said they hope to hire up to 30 people with the majority being part-time jobs.
The location will have a drive-thru and delivery will be offered.
The day before the shop opens, representatives from Jimmy John’s will come to the area and drive around. At that point, they will determine the delivery coverage area.
Both Todd and Grannell said they are excited about the opportunity and hope it leads to more in the area.
“Warsaw is one of the fastest growing cities in Indiana,” said Grannell. “We’re excited to be here.”
Jimmy John’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
