SYRACUSE - Jimmie Lee Gilbert, 73, of Bloomingdale, Ga., and formerly of Syracuse, died at 10:30 a.m. June 3, 2007, in his son's residence in Bloomingdale.
He was born July 9, 1933, in North Webster, to James A. and Mary M. Hendrickson Gilbert. On Aug. 23, 1952, in Syracuse, he married Doris May Sue Hoover, who survives.
Living in the Syracuse area most of his life, he moved to Bloomingdale to be near his son due to declining health. He attended North Webster public schools. He retired from J.C. Pontoon, North Webster, in 1991, and was a former truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Syracuse Church of the Brethren.
Also surviving are a son, Gary A. Gilbert, Bloomingdale; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter G. Gilbert, Syracuse. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
