AKRON – Jill L. Runkle, 55, Akron, passed away at 3 a.m. Aug. 3, 2015, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. She was born May 18, 1959, in Warsaw, to Roy A. and Maxine Holderman Haney. She was married to Phil Runkle. She had been the Akron town clerk-treasurer for many years. She graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School in 1977. She was a board member, as well as past president, of the Akron Carnegie Library. She was also a member of the Fulton County Parks Dept. and the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. She enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting and playing the guitar. She was known as a daughter of Akron and was an active leader of the community. Survivors are: two sons, Tyson and Cole Runkle, both of Indianapolis; a sister, Penny S. (and spouse John) Ramsey, Akron; a brother, Doug Haney and close friend Christine Lozier, Silver Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Evelyn Taylor Haney officiating.
