VAN BUREN – Jesse Albert Linton, 87, of Matthews, died at 2:25 p.m. July 13, 2011, in V.A. Northern Indiana Health Care System, Marion.
He was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Van Buren, to Claude and Estle Heady Linton. On Nov. 22, 1945, he married Patty Dakin, who survives.
He spent many years at Chapman Lake. He attended Van Buren High School and was a lifetime member of Brown-Doyle American Legion Post 368, Van Buren. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II from 1943-45, where he was wounded in Poe Valley, Italy, and had received a Purple Heart. He was plant manager at Appliance Manufacturing, Van Buren, for 27 years. He attended First Community Church, Matthews.
Also surviving are four daughters: Connie (and spouse Jack) Beyer, Phoenix, Ariz.; Claudia (and spouse Ward) Britt, Indianapolis; Carolyn Slater, Gaston; and Katrina (and spouse Myron III) Spencer, Upland; three sons, Kim (and spouse Donna) Linton and Kristopher (and spouse Lori) Linton, all of Marion, and Cameron (and spouse Debbie) Linton, Ohio; a sister, Eileen (and spouse Max) Martz, Marion; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, Van Buren, with the Rev. Joe Ruberg officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, with graveside military rites by members of Grant County Honor Guard.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
