Jerry Wallace Banks, 68, Warsaw, passed away at 2:43 p.m. Dec. 28, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Alpena, Mich. On Oct. 26, 1985, in Warsaw, he married Sharon Lee Boroff, who survives in Warsaw. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Dec. 6, 1965, and he served during Vietnam. SP5 Jerry Wallace Banks was honorably discharged Dec. 7, 1967. He moved to Kosciusko County after his military service. He worked nine years at Walmart in maintenance; 10 years at Dalton Foundries; 10 years at Sun Metal Products. He was a member of VFW #49 and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR, Dale Earnhart Sr. and Dale Earnhart Jr. being his favorite drivers. He was a very caring person who would give the shirt off of his back if someone needed it. He cared for his indoor and outdoor pets and was known to surprise Sharon with loving and romantic gestures. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. Also surviving are two daughters, Gina Banks and Christina (and spouse Troy) Matthews, both of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Wallace (and spouse Lisa) Banks, Omaha; eight grandchildren: Tory and Taylor Matthews; Mackenzie, Alex, Quentin, Josephine Banks, Cassie and Elizabeth Banks; a brother-in-law, Bob Kraft; and niece and nephew, Ruby and Walter Kraft, all of Rockwood, Mich.; a nephew, Bobby (and spouse Terri) Hepburn, Warsaw; and three great-nieces, Elica, Laila and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Linda Kraft, Emily Kosha and Patricia Ingram; and three brothers: Joseph, Donald and Ralph Sobeck. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Scott Carmer, First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
