Jerry Leroy DavisHARTFORD CITY – Jerry Leroy Davis, 85, passed away at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.
He was born in Hartford City on Jan. 5, 1934, to George Virgil Davis and Ola G. Overmyer Davis. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
Jerry graduated from Hartford City High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1957. He retired in 1991 from 3M Company, where he was a supervisor in maintenance. He had worked there for 34 years.
He married Sarah Electa Wilson Davis on Jan. 27, 1984, at First Christian Church in Hartford City.
Jerry was a member of First Christian Church and Masonic Lodge F & Am #106 in Hartford City and American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah E. Davis, of Warsaw; sons, Brian D. (wife, Catherine) Davis, of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and Stanton J. (wife, Nancy) Davis, of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Brenda D. Davis, of Gurnee, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James J. (wife, Myrna) Davis, of Lapel; first wife, Trudie D. (Hanson) Davis, of Gurnee, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Vera L. Palmer, Robert G. Davis and Virgil I. Davis.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Bob Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie with Military Honors by Dunkirk American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
