NORTH WEBSTER – Jerry Lee Badskey, 74, North Webster and North Manchester, died at 8:05 a.m. April, 13, 2012, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. He was born March 30, 1938, in Huntington, to Lorin Justin and Ruby Marie Lepley Badskey. On Oct. 19, 1958, in Servia, he married Julia Ann Purdy, who survives. He graduated in 1957 from Chester High School and in 1961 from International Business College, Fort Wayne, with an associate’s degree. He served in the Air National Guard of Indiana and the Reserve of the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis. He retired in 1987 as the owner and operator of Badskey Realty, North Webster. He formerly worked with the family business, LML Corp. in Columbia City where they made pontoons from 1954-80. He lived in Wabash, Allen and Kosciusko counties most of his life and wintered in Fort Myers, Fla., for several years. He was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church and attended North Manchester Congregational Christian Church. He was a member of Lakeland Kiwanis and American Legion Post 253, both in North Webster. He received his Eagle Scout Award Oct. 31, 1955, from Troop 15 in North Manchester. He was president of the Kosciusko Board of Realtors from 1990-91. Also surviving are three sons: Steven Lee (and spouse Mary) Badskey, Montgomery, Ala.; Kent Lee (and spouse Michelle) Badskey, Pierceton; and Scott Lee (and spouse Christine) Badskey, Barrington, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Janet (and spouse Luther) Allen, North Webster. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at North Webster United Methodist Church with Pastor David Smitley officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, with the Rev. J.P. Freeman officiating. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 253.
