NAPPANEE - Jean A. Ringenberg, 82, formerly of 604 E. VanBuren St., died at 9:20 p.m. June 22, 2007, in LuAnn Nursing Home, where she resided.

She was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Nappanee, to Edgar and Wilma Stiver Ringenberg.

She graduated from Middlebury High School and South Bend College of Commerce and attended Goshen College. She was secretary at John R. Nuner School, South Bend, for 48 years. She was a lifetime member of the PTA of South Bend, and the National Association of Education Office Professionals. She was secretary-treasurer of South Bend Schools Education Secretaries Association and a member of South Bend Branch of the American Business Women's Association. She was a counselor at Camp Tannadoonah with the CampFire Girls for 17 summers. She was an election official for many years in Nappanee. She volunteered for the Apple Festival and was a member of Nappanee Historic Preservation Board. She was a member and past president of Current Club, Nappanee, and a lifetime member of Nappanee United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Rebekah/Esther Circle. She also served as secretary-treasurer of the United Methodist Women and volunteered at the Thrift Shop.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nappanee United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harrold officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
