BROOKSTON – Jason “Jake” C. Alberts, 44, Wolcott, passed away at 4:13 a.m. May 14, 2016, at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital of Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 14, 1972, in Lafayette, to Robert and Patricia Byron Alberts. On Sept. 28, 1996, in West Jefferson, Ohio, he married the love of his life, Tiffany Younts, “honey,” who survives in Wolcott. Jason and Tiffany in the past two years moved from Warsaw to Wolcott. He was a 1990 graduate of Tri-County High School. He also graduated from Earlham College, Richmond, with a bachelor’s degree in history. Jason and his wife attended Warsaw Community Church for 13 years prior to their move to Wolcott. He was a senior insurance adjuster at American Modern Insurance for the past 13 years. He enjoyed coaching football and baseball. He not only loved coaching from a sports aspect, he was dedicated to them becoming fine young men. Family, co-workers and friends looked up to him, always getting a smile out of them, with his unique and awesome wit. “We lost the best husband, daddy, and friend we could ever have hoped for. He loved his family more than words can say. He was our teddy bear, goofball, tender hearted, and love of our lives. He treasured the time with his children – playing with them, watching them and teaching them. Family was so very important to him!” Also surviving are his parents; five children: Luke Christopher, Myah Elizabeth, Jacob Wesley, Joseph Henry and Samuel James Alberts; three brothers: Jeffrey (and spouse Stacie), Jon and Justin (and spouse Amanda) Alberts; mother- and father-in-law, Rick and Ruth Younts; a brother-in-law, Chad (and spouse Annisa) Younts; six nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Vincent and Clarissa Byron; paternal grandparents, Harry and Lois Alberts; and uncles, Bill and Dave Alberts. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Remington United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mary vanWijk officiating. Burial will follow in Remington Cemetery.
