SYRACUSE - Janis W. Nahler, 80, of Syracuse, died at 2:45 a.m. June 21, 2009, in her daughter's residence of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Columbia City, to Joy and Edith Gilbert Hiscutt. In 1971, she married Paul Nahler, who died in 1989.

She moved to Syracuse in 1998, coming from Churubusco. She was a licensed beautician and had owned and operated Klip N Kurl Beauty Salon, Churubusco, for more than 30 years. She attended Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse.

Surviving are two daughters: Anna M. McCreery, Sturgis, Mich., and Linda (and spouse Daniel Sr.) Stuckman, Syracuse; a son, Timothy W. Firestone, Auburn; two brothers, Frank Hiscutt, Fort Wayne, and Judd Hiscutt, New Port Ritchie, Fla.; a sister, Joyce Bair; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a sister, two brothers and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastors Harlan Steffen and Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is assisting the family with arrangements.
