It is with deep love and peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Gayle Murphy Aspden, 75. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and faithful servant of Christ. Janice went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 20, 2025, surrounded by family and held in God’s grace.
Born on July 6, 1950, in Erie, Pa., to Glenn and Lettie Murphy, Janice lived a life rooted in faith, compassion and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was a woman whose gentle spirit reflected the love of Jesus in every word she spoke and every act of kindness she offered. Her home was a place of warmth and refuge, where prayers were spoken often, laughter filled the rooms and everyone who entered felt truly cared for.
As a mother, she was our constant encouragement —guiding us with wisdom, patience and unconditional love. As a grandmother and great-grandmother she was our storyteller, our prayer warrior and our greatest cheerleader. Her hugs carried comfort, her faith gave us strength and her joy made even ordinary days feel special.
Janice served others wholeheartedly, whether through her church community, her friendships or the countless small acts of grace she quietly performed every day. Janice taught junior high English and Sunday school for over 30 years and had such a positive impact on every life she touched. She believed in the power of prayer, the importance of family and the beauty of giving more than she received.
Though we will miss her presence beyond measure, we rejoice in knowing she has been welcomed into the arms of her Savior. We take comfort in the promise of eternal life and in the legacy of love, faith and kindness she leaves with each of us.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Early Murphy and Lettie Lee Buford Murphy. Janice is survived by her husband, David Lee Aspden; son, James David Aspden (Emily); daughters: Lisa Lynn Klaiber (Peter), Jessie Lei Russell (Duane) and Janeen Marie Aspden. Also by her eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, two brothers and countless nieces and nephews.
Her service will be held at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, on Sunday, Nov. 23. Viewing starts at 1 p.m. and funeral service is at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held in her hometown of North East, Pa., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Judson, 398 Holiday Road, North Springfield, PA 16430.
