SYRACUSE – James Thomas Staulcup, 83, North Webster, died peacefully in his sleep Oct. 31, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 8, 1931, in Martin, Tenn., to William Clifford Staulcup and Mamie Jolly. On Jan. 29, 1966, he married JoAnn Smith, to whom he was married 29 years. He was a decorated veteran, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1959. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology, graduating with degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering followed by a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. He went on to become a successful business executive and consultant. He was a social, active man, who deeply enjoyed playing golf throughout his life and into retirement. His family and friends will always remember him as a good friend, devoted and loving father and kind person. Surviving are two children, Susan and Matthew. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ralph, and one sister, Helen. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse.
