BOURBON – James Mark Thacker, 72, Tippecanoe, passed away at 11:05 a.m. June 16, 2015, in his residence with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Tippecanoe, to Mark and Jane Thompson Thacker. On Dec. 27, 1963, he married Marga Syler, who preceded him in death June 4, 1996. He had been a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe. He was a graduate of Argos High School. He had worked as a painter and worked at Ames Paint Store. He belonged to the NRA and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and gardening. He was also known for making ice fishing lures and flies. Surviving are two sons: Mark A. (and spouse Michelle) Thacker, Etna Green, and Patrick James ( and spouse Mary) Thacker, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Allison, Nicole, Alex, Michael and Mikaela; four great- grandchildren: Addy, Bensyn, Peyton and Haley; three sisters: Mary Lou (and spouse Walter) Grohowski, Vero Beach, Fla.; Elizabeth Hanson, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Terri Jo (and spouse Doug) Williams, Carmel; and a brother, Marvin (and spouse Dinah) Thacker, Tippecanoe. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastor Gail Law officiating.
