James R. 'Smiley' Guyse

James R. "Smiley" Guyse, 54, Warsaw, died at 3:07 p.m. Dec. 26, 2009, in his residence.

He was born Oct. 29, 1955, in Marshall County, to Robert Leo and Sara Catherine Wilson Guyse. On June 27, 1998, in Warsaw, he married Nancy Engstrand, who survives.

He lived in Kosciusko County for the last 15-plus years. He worked at Union Tool, Warsaw, as a fabricator. He attended Lakeville High School and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of VFW 1162, Plymouth, and ABATE Region 1, Kosciusko County.

Also surviving are a son, Tyler Hartel, Michigan; a stepson, Justin Donovan, Warsaw; two stepdaughters, Jodi Reynolds and Nicole Duttin, both of Warsaw; five sisters: Linda (and spouse Bill) Unruh, North Judson; Roberta (and spouse Sam) Barnett and Judy Ouellette, all of Walkerton; Chris Koehn and Donna Guyse, both of Plymouth; along with many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
