James R. Craig, 70, of Warsaw, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 24, 2011, in his residence.
He was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Kosciusko County, to Robert G. and Frances E. Benton Craig. On Jan. 16, 1965, he married Carol A. Shaffner, who died June 21, 2005.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he formerly worked at United Telephone System in the marketing department; Sears and Roebuck Store, Warsaw, as a mechanic; formerly owned CJ’s Shoe Store and Craig Marathon Station, both of Warsaw; and currently worked as a fleet mechanic for the Warsaw Police Department. He faithfully served his country from 1964-68, in the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard as a Private First Class. He was a member of Warsaw Masonic Lodge; Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite; Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne; Kosciusko County Shrine Club; and Moose Lodge and the Elk’s Club, both in Warsaw. He was a longtime member and patron of Breading’s Cigar Store, Warsaw.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy (and spouse Dane) Ronk, Warsaw, and Amy (and spouse Clark) Cummins, Indianapolis; two brothers, Jerry (and spouse Connie) Craig and Bob (and spouse Pat) Craig, both of Warsaw; and grandchildren, Ashley and Craig Ronk and Cameron and Chloe Cummins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, officiated by the Very Rev. Brian Grantz and the Rev. Corinne Hodges. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with a military honors by members of the American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. by members of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge 73.
