RUSSIAVILLE - James O. "Jo" Smith, 84, of Kokomo, died at 5:45 a.m. Aug. 11, 2008, in Waterford Place Health Campus.
He was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Gibson County, to Guy and Tessie Brown Smith. On Dec. 24, 1943, in Lansing, Mich., he married Mary L. Perigo, who survives.
He was superintendent of Whitko Community Schools from 1972-84.
Also surviving are four children; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Kokomo, with pastors Jerry Van Auken and Bob Lawson officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday (CDT) in Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m today at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville.
