AKRON – James Lane Thomas, 76, died Jan. 15, 2012, in Heritage Pointe, Warren.
He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in McCook, Neb., to James William and Jessie Lane Thomas. He married Della May Jenks, who survives.
He attended the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1958 as a chemical engineer. He spent the major part of his career, 31 years, with the 3M Corp., Hartford City, and St. Paul, Minn.
He was a member and officer of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Area Planning Commission, his own TV business, the Optimist and Rotary clubs, A Barber Shop Chorus and the Avion Travelcade Club. He lived in Nebraska, Wyoming, Minnesota, Indiana, Minnesota again, Colorado and back to Indiana.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gwen (and spouse John) Mays, Raleigh, N.C., and Lane (and spouse Allen) Bahney, Gilead; three granddaughters; and four great- grandchildren.
A private graveside service was Monday at Gilead Cemetery with the Rev. David Welsh officiating.
