ANGOLA – James “Jim” Lee Salisbury, 68, New Haven, passed away June 14, 2015, surrounded by family and friends in his daughter’s residence, after battling cancer for six years.
He was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Greenville, Ohio, to Hugh and Margaret Jett Salisbury. On July 6, 1968, he married Jeanne Crauder, who survives.
After graduating from Stillwell High School in 1964 he proudly served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He graduated from Indiana University South Bend and worked in the banking industry for many years. He and his wife owned the Bourbon Dairy Queen from 1993 to 2001. Throughout the years, he devoted time to various service organizations and the hobbies of fishing and golf. His greatest passion was spending time with his kids and grandkids. As a business owner and volunteer coach, he was a wonderful mentor to many youth and enjoyed each and every one of them.
He selflessly requested his body be donated to the Indiana University Anatomical Education Program to further the research and understanding of agent orange exposure and the effects of chemical warfare.
Also surviving are a son, Jeff Salisbury, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Janell (and spouse Benjamin) McIntosh, New Haven; a brother, John Salisbury, Kokomo; two sisters, Janet (and spouse Mike) Beam, Plymouth; and Joyce (and spouse Rod) LeRoy, Cosby, Tenn.; and his beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Leonna McIntosh. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith Ann Johnson.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. June 27, 2015, at Plymouth Baptist Church, 11345 9A Road, Plymouth. Fellowship and a meal will follow.
