NORTH MANCHESTER – James H. Warner, 72, of LaCrosse, Wis., and formerly of Sidney, died at 10:10 p.m. Sept. 29, 2011, in Red Wing (Minn.) Health Care.

He was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Orland, to the Rev. Howard E. and Edith M. Stafford Warner.

He was a professor of biology and botany at University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, for 33 years. He was a member of United Church of Christ, LaCrosse, and of the Barbershop Quartet of the church choir. He received a bachelor’s degree from Manchester College, attended the University of Utah, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
