James G. ‘Jim’ CraftonSYRACUSE – James G. “Jim” Crafton, 88, of Syracuse, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1934, in Nappanee, to Bebon and Bertha Mischler Crafton.

He grew up in Nappanee and graduated from Nappanee High School. He was married on Sept. 11, 1960, in Syracuse,  to Norma J. Byland, who survives, and spent most of his life in the Syracuse area. He retired from Auto Zone in Goshen and formerly worked at Da-Lite Screen in Warsaw.

He was a member of the Buzzards Roost Ham Radio Operator Club, Solomon Creek United Methodist Church near Benton, formerly attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and was part of the Burger King Men’s Coffee Club.

He is survived by wife, Norma Crafton, of Syracuse; daughter, Terri Collins, of Indianapolis; son, Garry Crafton, of Chicago; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter,  Bobbi Schiffer; and sister, Dianna Shoemaker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 22 at the Solomon Creek United Methodist Church, 15051 CR 146, Syracuse, with Pastor Glenda Woodcox officiating. Burial will follow in the Solomon Creek Cemetery.
