James Fred DooleyAKRON – James Fred Dooley, 73, of Disko, Ind., died at 11:44 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Grundy, W.Va., to Walter and Flossie Sluss Dooley.
On Oct. 24, 1965, he was married in Virginia to Mary Kathleen Bailey; she preceded on July 13, 2018.
He worked at the former Wabash Containers Corporation in Wabash, Ind., for 47 years, retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the NRA and the Honeywell Center. He was known as a fast pitch softball pitcher. He bowled in many leagues and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was an avid gardener and at one point had a 3-acre garden.
He is survived by son, Freddie and wife Kathy Dooley, of Young America, Ind.; daughter, Carol and husband Randy Shelburne, of Rochester, Ind.; grandchildren. Jennifer, Brandy, Dexter and Dale; and great-grandchildren, Alexia, Tristan, Joselynn, Austin and Cayden.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Kathleen; son, Billie Joe Dooley; three sisters; and two brothers.
A private family burial will take place at Gaerte Cemetery, Macy, Ind. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, Aug. 19 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 West Rochester Street, Akron, Ind.
