NORTH MANCHESTER - James E. Hettler, 92, formerly of Silver Lake, died at 3:45 a.m. Nov. 20, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Wabash County, to Carl and Clara Brooks Hettler. On Sept. 23, 1942, he married Marjorie A. Beigh, who died Aug. 2, 2007.
He was a salesman at Kerlin Motor Co., Silver Lake, for 30 years, and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Silver Lake Lions Club and West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, where he was a deacon.
Surviving are two sons, James R. (and spouse Lorene) Hettler, Claypool, and Steven J. Hettler, Warsaw; a sister, Joan (and spouse Robert) Wade, Wabash; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Paul Tinkel officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
