James Carl McKinney, 72, Warsaw, passed away Jan. 17, 2016, at Mason’s Healthcare.
He was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Kentucky, to Orville and Opal McKinney. On May 2, 1980, he married Judy Hamilton, who preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2003.
He enjoyed playing poker, watching wrestling, going to the races and drove a stock car at Warsaw Speedway in the ’70s. He enjoyed working on cars and passed that on to his son. He managed Graceland Village Mobile Home Park, Warsaw, for several years during the ’90s. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and corn hole with his grandchildren. He was easy going and always had a good sense of humor about things.
He is survived by his companion, Glendeane Gayheart, Claypool; a son, James McKinney Jr., Warsaw; a daughter, April (and spouse Rodger) Berry, Warsaw; four daughters: Clistie (and spouse Jim) Hoskins, Claypool; Michelle (and spouse Jeff) Puckett, Mentone; Mary (and spouse Scott) Lampkin, Warsaw; Lois Ann (and spouse Rick) Burgesss, Prestonsburg, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen (and spouse Duane) Ledbetter, Warsaw; Donna Sue Sturgill and Sylvia Ramey. both of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles “Jr” McKinney; two sisters, Avanell Frasure and Juanita Daniels; and a grandson, Kaleb Lampkin.
A celebration of his life will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Warsaw Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Andrew Weaver officiating. A private family interment in Oakwood Cemetery will be at a later date.
There will be a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral and Cremation Services, Warsaw.
