James C. 'Mac' Silveus

James C. "Mac" Silveus, 88, of 1634 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, died at 8:10 a.m. March 10, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Kosciusko County, to Curtis Walter and Audrey Mae Laughlin Silveus. On July 12, 1943, in Warsaw, he married Jeanne Best, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he owned and retired from Silveus & Bradway Oil Co., Warsaw. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elks Club, Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 49, and was a Third and Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, all in Warsaw. He served as a Warsaw City Councilman for 12 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Also surviving are seven children: James Christian "Chris" (and spouse Mary) Silveus, Indianapolis; Anthony "Tony" Silveus, Scott (and spouse Melissa) Silveus, Toby (and spouse Tony) Sumpter and Reneé Tripp, all of Warsaw; Pattijean (and spouse Tom) Cullen, Atlanta, Ga.; and Lisa Ricther, New Knoxville, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Silveus; two sisters, Bette Bradway and Ilah Cormany; and a daughter, Vicki Clemens.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and American Legion Post 49.

Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with a rosary service at 5 p.m.
