NORTH WEBSTER – Jack V. Rhodes, 82, of North Webster, died at 7:20 a.m. Dec. 7, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born April 28, 1929, in Pierceton, to John A. and Martha L. Roberts Rhodes. On Oct. 8, 1955, in Etna, he married Marilyn J. Ringler, who survives.
A lifetime North Webster area resident, he graduated from North Webster High School in 1947 and was a U.S. Army Korean veteran. He worked at Jackson Oil, North Webster, since 2009 and formerly worked at Pure Oil from 1955-62 and Crystal Flash from 1962-2009, where he was the manager. He was a member of Salem Community Missionary Church, Wilmot; a life member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster; and a former member of the North Webster Lions Club.
Also surviving are a daughter, Bobbie (and spouse Tim) Torrance, Middlebury; three sons: Vince (and spouse Denise) Rhodes, North Webster; Tim (and spouse Janie) Rhodes, Leesburg; and Jim (and spouse Lisa) Rhodes, Pierceton; eight grandchildren; a sister, Peggy (and spouse Hal) Minear, North Webster; and three brothers: Gordon Rhodes, Milford; Norman “Dick” (and spouse Sara) Rhodes, Warsaw; and Jerry (and spouse Julia), North Webster. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two sisters and a brother.
Services will be a 10 a.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Jack L. Stump officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Wilmot.
