IWU’s Mangas Scores 2,000th Career Point In Win

MARION – Indiana Wesleyan junior and Warsaw alum Kyle Mangas scored the 2,000th point of his college career Saturday night in the Wildcats’ 107-102 win over ninth-ranked and previously unbeaten Bethel University.

Mangas became the seventh player in program history to score at least 2,000 points. He connected on the historic milestone in the second half from the free-throw line. Mangas finished the game with 39 points, bringing his career points total to 2,025.

He joins Perry Frank (2,452 points), Durand ‘Speedy’ Walker (2,409 points), Lane Mahurin (2,288 points), Jordan Weidner (2,224 points), Aaron Brothers (2,013 points), and Bob Peters (2,004 points).

Mangas ranks fourth all-time in Wildcat scoring, and 49th in Crossroads League history.

Mangas is on pace to have his best season yet, averaging 26.1 points-per-game, 4.3 assists per game, and 5.7 rebounds per game. He is shooting a  85% from the free-throw line, 7% percent better than his career average. For his career, Mangas has a 54% field goal percentage while shooting 40% from three-point range.
