Items are continuing to be collected to ship to troops overseas.
American Legion Post 49, Ladies Auxiliary Post 49 and Sons Of the American Legion Post 49 are collecting items to make troops' lives a little brighter this Christmas.
There have already been 36 priority mail boxes shipped to troops overseas. The packages will bring joy to more than 57 service men and women, according to Gayle Dickey, American Legion Auxiliary Post 49 treasurer.
The Legion has received a request for an additional mailing for a battalion of 50 military personnel, and there are not enough items to fill the request.
Donations will be accepted at the American Legion Post 49, 301 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw, until Dec. 4.
Items needed include lip balm, cough drops, wet wipes, cotton swabs, small tooth paste, small mouth wash, canned sardines, canned smoked oysters, hot cocoa mix, hard candy, powdered drink mixes, tennis balls, boxed breakfast bars, decks of cards, pens, super glue, disposable cameras, nail clippers, packaged beer jerky, travel size kleenex, powdered drink mixes and travel-size deodorant.
Donation boxes are available in the downstairs area of the lodge.
Any monetary donations also will be accepted to be applied to the mailing fee of $11.95 per package. Checks made payable to American Legion Auxiliary or cash donations will be accepted.
People who cannot deliver items to the Legion can call the Legion at 574-267-5549 for the items to be picked up.
