ISP Conducts Drug Raid In Milford

Posted

MILFORD - Indiana State Police executed a search warrant on a Milford residence Monday, expecting to find an illegal drug lab but found a large amount of precursors to manufacture methamphetamine instead.

Cpl. Aaron Rypma, Indiana State Police, said they had everyone there, including a SWAT team, Milford Fire Department and EMS for the search. Fire department and EMS personnel were called because of the volatile nature of methamphetamine labs.

When officers entered the residence, at 112373 Creek Bend Road Drive, Milford, they found three people inside. No one was arrested but papers requesting arrest warrants have been sent to the Kosciusko County prosecutor's office.

Precursors to manufacture methamphetamine include certain household products that are found in large amounts and in altered form.

One example is lithium batteries, which by themselves are perfectly legal. When many batteries are found and have been opened up to remove the lithium, then they are considered a precursor.

Crushed pseudophedrine tablets, a key ingredient in methamphetamine and many cold medications, were found at the residence, in addition to other precursors.
