ISO Trumpeter Coming To Second Sunday Series

Posted
The Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship, founder and sponsor of the international annual MasterWorks Festival, announced a candlelit concert as part of its Second Sunday Series.
The team of musicians, singers and actors has been preparing for this annual concert, and “they’re confident they have a show that will have you laughing, crying and celebrating the love you share with your friends and family,” according to a press release from the Second Sunday Series.
The fellowship holds concerts monthly for the community.
Coming in from Indianapolis to perform will be Marvin C. Perry II, the principal trumpet player of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Perry has been with the ISO for 30 years and holds a master’s degree in music education. He has been the head of the trumpet section for the MasterWorks Festival for more than 10 years and will be joining them for another year this summer.
Perry will perform the pieces “Fantasie Theme Et Variations” and “Du Style” on his trumpet with collaborative pianist Jonathan Keener.
The concert also will include a performance from the traditional composition “Kreisleriana” by Robert Schumann, performed by Yeon-Kyung Kim, a professional pianist from South Korea; “Sonata for Cello and Piano” by Chopin, performed by cellist Barbara Kavanaugh and collaborative pianist Yeon-Kyung Kim; Bach’s “Where Sheep May Safely Graze,” performed by pianist Jonathan Keener; a scene from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with actors Erin Mills, Cody R. Arn, Josh Harlan Knox and Tiffany Rott; and more.
At the end of the concert, the audience will be invited to join in song for a corporate hymn sing.
“It promises to be a night of fun and friendship with refreshments of cookies and warm drinks served throughout. Though the snow is coming down outside we hope to create a warm, inviting evening to celebrate love,” the press release states.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Rodeheaver Auditorium, corner of Park Avenue and Ninth Street, Winona Lake.
The Second Sunday Series is always free and open to the public, maintaining works of classical repertoire in Kosciusko.
The Second Sunday Series is a monthly tradition going back nearly 10 years.
