Irma Shaffer Dorrough, departed this life Oct. 18, 2011.
She was born June 16, 1950, in Baird, Miss., to Curtis and Pauline Clark Shaffer, who preceded her in death. On April 5, 1975, in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Indianapolis, she married Sam Dorrough, who survives.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age in Clarksdale, Miss. She moved to Indianapolis in 1965 and graduated from George Washington High School in 1969. She graduated from Indianapolis Business College in 1971. She moved to Warsaw in 1975. At the time of her death she worked at Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, in the compensation and benefits department, where she worked for more than 35 years. She was an active member of the Warsaw community. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful and dedicated member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church, where she served as the secretary and greeter. She also served on the board of directors for Indiana Lakes Federal Credit Union. She had many interests and enjoyed traveling, shopping for a great deal, spending time with friends and family, visiting her son in Chicago and giving to others. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and godmother.
Also surviving are a son, Kevin (and spouse Kristine), Chicago; two brothers, Gayle (and spouse Marsha) Young and Ray (and spouse Brenda) Shaffer, Indianapolis; a special sister and cousin Betty Willis; two sisters-in-law, Emma Dorrough, Muncie, and Willa Dorrough, Indianapolis; a god daughter, Kristina Campbell, New York; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also was preceded in death by mama Willie Mae Smith; two sisters, Annie Watson, and Fannie Love; and three brothers, Robert Shaffer, James Shaffer and Joe Ledell.
Service will be at noon Friday at Warsaw Wesleyan Church with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
