Irene Woods Hunter Burkett, 78, of Lexington, Ky., and formerly of 5157 S. Country Club Road, Warsaw, died at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 24, 2008, in Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
She was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Frankie and Rosie Endicott Woods. On May 7, 1946, she married Woodrow Hunter. They divorced in 1974. On Sept. 4, 1976, she married Okey Burkett, who died Jan. 13, 1992.
Living in Warsaw for many years, she worked at Warsaw Coil, White Metal and Chore-Time, Milford, before becoming a homemaker. She moved to Lexington in June 2007. She was a member of God's Highway to Heaven Church, Warsaw.
Surviving are three daughters, Roberta (and spouse Elige) Thompson, Warsaw; Wanda (and spouse Bill) Conn, Martin, Ky.; and Helen (and spouse Larry) Samons, Lexington; three sons, Arley (and spouse Brenda) Hunter and Gordon (and spouse Jean) Hunter, all of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Donald (and spouse Robin) Hunter, Ypsilanti, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn (and spouse George) Mayes, Pataskala, Ohio. She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
