DAVENPORT, Fla. - Irene M. Robison, 89, of Haines City, Fla., died at 9 p.m. Jan. 23, 2009, in Crossroad Rehabilitation Nursing Home, Davenport, Fla.

She was born Feb. 26, 1919, outside of Rochester, to Earl R. and Mildred I. Thorstenson Townsend. On Dec. 25, 1940, in Leesburg, she married Earl F. Robison, who died Sept. 27, 2007.

She graduated from Rochester High School in 1936, and Manchester College in 1940. She did substitute and homebound teaching and taught at Leesburg, Cutler and Syracuse high schools and retired in 1982 from Warsaw Middle School after 37 years in various teaching positions. She also did scheduling and the bookkeeping for Robison Plumbing and Heating, Leesburg. She was a longtime member of Leesburg Methodist Church and was active in their women's groups in earlier years. She attended the Kosciusko Retired Teachers' group and Leesburg Travelers.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Robison, Haines City, and Rolland Earl (and spouse Pam) Robison, Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Barbara A. Nelson, Logansport; three grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by a brother.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Cremation Services of Mid Florida, Davenport, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
