Irene M. Bennett, 88, of Decatur, Ala., and formerly of Rolling Prairie, died Jan. 12, 2011, in Summerford Nursing Home, Falkville, Ala.
She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in South Haven, Mich., to Loren J. and Mary Jensen Pensinger. On Jan. 17, 1945, in South Bend, she married Clarence J. Bennett, who died Feb. 5, 1992.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara (and spouse Gordon) Weathers, Reeds Spring, Mo.; three sons: Larry (and spouse Clara) Bennett, Warsaw; Bruce (and spouse Beth) Bennett, Greenwood; and Steven Bennett, Whiting; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Harry, Eugene, George, Loren, Laverne and Glen Pensinger. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clarence "Jack" Bennett Jr.; three sisters, Virginia Gilbreath, Estelle Bosany, and Grace Drekster; and a brother, Robert Pensinger.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Haverstock Funeral Home Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, with Hugh Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
