MILFORD - Irene D. Charlton, 97, of Milford, died at 5:35 a.m. May 19, 2009, in Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford.
She was born May 18, 1912, in Kosciusko County, to Sanford and Clara Marquart Gall. On May 1, 1929, she married Russell Hollar, who died in 1986. In Nov. 1978, she married Frank Charlton, who died in 1986.
A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and enjoyed helping out on the farm. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She attended Island Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of Busy Homemakers Club, Milford.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn (and spouse John) Mahan, Lafayette; a son, Russell Hollar Jr., Milford; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virgie Unbaugh, Nappanee; and two brothers, Father Jacob Gall, Kendallville, and James Gall, Leesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepson, a sister and a brother.
Services will be at noon Friday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Milford, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
