IPFW Honor Band

Posted
The Three Rivers Honor Band Festival includes the finest middle and high school band students from Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

It is sponsored by Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne. It’s an opportunity for talented young musicians from across the region to join together in the performance of quality concert band literature with nationally respected teachers and conductors. Students must submit a recorded audition, then the IPFW music faculty selects the top musicians to perform with the honor band. Each honor band, one middle school, one high school, consists of approximately 70 students representing 50 or so schools. The two students representing Tippecanoe Valley this year are Amanda Heltzel (seventh grade) and Diana Baca (10th grade). The middle school concert began at 1:30 p.m. with the high school concert following at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4. All rehearsals were in the Rhinehart Music Center at IPFW. The concert took place in Auer Performance Hall (also located in Rhinehart Music Center). In addition to full-band rehearsals, students had sectionals and master classes with outstanding professional musicians and also had the opportunity to hear the IPFW Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble perform.
