SYRACUSE – Iolah Mae Vernier, 91, of Syracuse, died at 6:20 a.m. Jan. 22, 2013, in I.U. Goshen Hospital. She was born May 1, 1921, in Hillsdale County, Mich., to Floyd R. and Lula Bell Blount Annis. On July 21, 1939, in Angola, she married Donald H. Vernier, who died March 9, 2006. She graduated from Frontier (Mich.) High School in 1939. She formerly owned and operated Lac La Belle Resort, Watersmeet, Mich., for 30 years and was a member of Land O’ Lakes (Wis.) Bible Church. She was a Syracuse area resident since 1998, coming from Land O’ Lakes. Surviving is a daughter, Sherrie Shafer, Syracuse. She also was preceded in death by an infant sister and infant brother. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Frontier Cemetery with Rev. Don Gentry officiating. ***** Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
