Warsaw Mayor Jeff Plank was awakened early this morning by an intruder in his home.
According to the Warsaw police, one of Plank's sons heard the front door open shortly after 1 a.m. and came out of his bedroom to see who had entered the house. The younger Plank told police an unknown man was standing in the kitchen area of the home and the intruder said "police, freeze" when he saw him. The teen then went to his parents' bedroom and told them what happened, and the mayor called for police.
The man was gone and the front door of Plank's house open when police arrived. The suspect apparently entered the home through the garage, where a set of keys was taken from a van parked inside. The keys were located at the front door of Plank's home, apparently dropped by the suspect as he fled the residence.
Other than $12 missing from the kitchen counter, nothing in the home appeared to have been disturbed, police said.
