A Kosciusko County Jail inmate is hospitalized after he apparently stopped breathing while in custody Monday evening.

Jeffrey Mark Reid, 36, of North Webster, is suffering from an unknown medical problem, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine. Reid reportedly was suffering symptoms of withdrawal and was in the care of the jail nurse when he stopped breathing. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and, according to Rovenstine, is on life support.

Reid was being held in the KCJ after being brought in early Saturday on charges of driving while adjudged a habitual offender and refusal to submit to chemical testing.
