Posted

A Kosciusko County Jail inmate suffering from an unknown medical problem died Wednesday night at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

Jeffrey Mark Reid, 36, of North Webster, was hospitalized Tuesday evening after he apparently stopped breathing while in custody.

Kosciusko County Coroner Larry Ladd said an autopsy will be completed on Reid today at St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

According to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, Reid reportedly was suffering symptoms of withdrawal and was in the care of the jail nurse when he stopped breathing. After being taken to KCH, Reid was on life support until the time of his death at 8:25 p.m.

Reid was being held in the KCJ after being brought in early Saturday on charges of driving while adjudged a habitual offender and refusal to submit to chemical testing.

Reid's obituary appears on Page 3A of today's edition.
