Two men injured in an electrical accident at Dalton Foundries have filed separate lawsuits against the corporation seeking unspecified damages.
Robert Allsop Jr. and Douglas P. Block were injured while cleaning high-voltage switches at the Warsaw foundry. Allsop and Block were working for Herrman & Goetz, a South Bend electrical contractor hired for the maintenance work. The accident occurred Sept. 3.
The lawsuits claim that Dalton Corp. and Dalton Corp.-Warsaw Manufacturing Facility were "negligent in failing to inspect and maintain its premises ... to provide a safe work site ... and to lockout and tag out electrical power sources."
Allsop, 23, of Walkerton, and Block, 47, of South Bend, were airlifted from Kosciusko Community Hospital to St. Joseph Hospital Regional Burn Center, Fort Wayne, after the accident.
Block's complaint, filed jointly with his wife, Karen S. Block, seeks compensation for losses in two counts. Allsop is seeking damages in one count.
Both cases were filed last week in Kosciusko Superior Court I by attorneys W.F. Conour and Ronald S. Todd of Conour & Doehrman, Indianapolis.
