Race car driver Juan Montoya, when he isn't driving at more than 220 miles per hour, relieves tension in the garage area of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by zipping between garages on a small hand scooter. Montoya, 1996 CART champion and a regular in that series, is a native of Bogota, Columbia. A driver for Chip Ganassi Racing, Montoya and his teammate, Jimmy Vasser, set the quick times of just over 221 miles per hour at the Speedway Thursday afternoon. Time trials this weekend will determine the 33 starters for the 84th Indy 500 on May 28. Photo by Norm Hagg, Times-Union
