Indy Establishment

Editor, Times-Union:

What I find most disturbing is that the Indy establishment is doing their best to try to determine who is representing Kosciusko County. At first, they tried to claim that Curt Nisly does not care about school children.  Research shows that to be false. Now, the Indy establishment is trying to say that Curt Nisly has done nothing on the U.S. 30 project.

I would like to remind this Indy establishment candidate that Curt Nisly has zero control over the project. It is all going to be done by the Indiana Department of Transportation. The governor has said that, the Department of Transportation has said that, the U.S. 30 Coalition has said that, in fact, the same candidate who made this claim, was there when he heard Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallmer say that.  Because you want it done now, does not mean it is going to happen. Curt Nisly has zero effect and has zero say on the time table.

Then he goes out and talks about more regulation of dams. Apparently, the Indy candidate did not read HEA 1099 from this year. This bill (which Curt Nisly voted for), makes the Natural Resources Commission create a list of low head dams around the state. The commission has to make sure that owners of these dams have warning standards that meet state law, and if it is a privately owned dam, have general liability insurance coverage greater than $1 million. Owners of these dams must maintain good visible signs, notify state officials if there is a breech in said dam within four days of being aware of it and cooperate with state officials who are conducting assessments on these same dams.

What more does the Indy establishment candidate want?

Curt Nisly is working for someone in Indianapolis. He is working for us. To claim that you would collaborate and cooperate with other representatives tells me that the Indy establishment candidate would do what the Indy establishment told him to do. Curt Nisly works for his constituents, and not for the Indy establishment.
