The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), Office or Transit is now offering applications for Section 5310 Specialized Transportation Capital Assistance. ELIGIBILITY: The Section 5310 Program serves areas where accessible public transit for the elderly and persons with disabilities is unavailable, inadequate or inappropriate. The program provides vehicles and related accessibility equipment to private non-profit organizations and eligible public bodies involved in transporting elderly persons and persons with disabilities. FUNDING: the federal government will fund eighty percent (80%) of the project costs. The grantee will provide the remaining twenty percent (20%). Indiana will distribute about $2.6 million. Typically, INDOT funds about 45 applicants per funding cycle. TIME FRAME: Completed applications are due On March 4, 2011. Anticipated vehicle delivery is by May 2012.
